Sophomore guard Zuri White scored a game-high 22 points to help lead the Morgan State University (MSU) women’s basketball team to a 78-66 win over Howard University on Jan. 30 at the Hill Field House in Baltimore, Md.

The victory marked the fourth win in five games for Morgan State, who currently holds third place in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) standings with a 5-2 conference record (7-12 overall).

Morgan State started out slowly against Howard, scoring just 10 points in the opening quarter. But the Lady Bears caught fire in the second quarter, scoring 25 points in the period alone to take a 35-30 lead into halftime.

Howard came out of the half break on fire, outscoring Morgan State, 27-18, in the third quarter. But the Lady Bison cooled off with only nine points in the fourth quarter, while Morgan State turned back up the pace with 25 fourth quarter points.

White did most of the scoring for MSU; her 22 points were a career-best, and she also added 13 rebounds. Sophomore guard Braennan Farrar posted a double-double of 11 points with 12 assists, and sophomore forward Lexus Spears scored 14 points with five rebounds.
